Precise & Preoccupied
Dear Ann Mahony,
My eleven year old son labors for hours over his handwriting. He is deliberate, precise and meticulous to the point of splitting hairs. (It took him ten minutes to write 26 words.) He never varies his pace, even when taking an exam. He scores highly on I.Q. and neuromuscular co-ordination tests, and is a bright and loving child. How will he ever get to college? I'm beside myself. I saw your show on graphotherapy? Could it help David?
Worried Mom

Dear Mom,
David's writing indicates that indeed he is a bright and loving child and graphotherapy cold help him immensely. As you know from watching the show, writing stems from the brain, and by reprogramming the subconscious with positive mental images, the corresponding personality change will manifest itself in conscious behavior. (For a complete discussion of graphotherapy and how it works, stay tuned for our upcoming video w/workbook series.) The flat table top r's reflect a well developed manual dexterity that is crying for expression. The heavily retraced blades in the m's and n's and overemphasis on the i-dots indicate an exaggerated preoccupation with attention to detail, as well as an inordinate need to be recognized for individual achievement. Perhaps dragging his heels is one way of getting your attention. His tenacious right margin further indicates perseverance that is compulsive and extreme.
This dog-with-a-bone characteristic can also be found in the overly conscientious employee, who fails to discern the difference between essential and tangential projects, often costing an employer vast amounts of unwarranted overtime.
Unable to judge when a project is finished, he cannot conclude anything; he feels compelled to continue. His mind is so fixed on the task at hand, he fails to listen to or comprehend your arguments for increasing his speed. Tent stem t's reinforce this nature determined to do things "his way". David needs to improve his overall perspective of a situation and relax his tenacious concentration. The following exercise is a relaxing, soothing, rhythmical balance between lower, middle, and upper zones which symbolize past, present and future, as well as the material, practical and theoretical world. A page of these propellers executed for 30 nights (should be at least 21/2 to 3" high) before bedtime should assist in producing the desired change.
